JOB SUMMARY:
Watershed Progressive is hiring a Workshop Events Coordinator to join our team! As Workshop Events Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in advancing our mission of “connecting communities with their watersheds through integrated strategies for a healthy, resilient future,” contributing your skills and expertise, to an exciting, dynamic team. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks to coordinate and support partnership development for events, including but not limited to, the Localizing CA Waters (LCW) annual conference and other regional workshops and community and training events. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to solve problems creatively, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to complete projects according to scope, budget, and timeline. Your work will contribute to supporting a growing community of collaborators involved in climate resilience projects throughout the state. The ideal candidate has:
• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Organizational Science, Ecological Design, Business Development, Marketing, Water Policy, Environmental Science, Urban or Regional Planning, Natural or Physical Sciences, Hydrology, Public or Business Administration, Agricultural Management, or a closely related field. NOTE: Additional qualifying experience in event planning, fundraising, marketing, sales or a similar field may be substituted for education lacked on a year-for-year basis. One year of full-time experience = 30 semester/45 quarter college-level units.
• Two years working professionally in water, wastewater, groundwater, storm water, recycled water, or agricultural water fields performing professional-level resource community planning, modeling, legislative or regulatory analysis, event coordination or project management.
• Two years minimum in event management and coordination.
Fundraising and budgeting experience for event coordination.
• A commitment to environmental justice, and/or diversity, inclusion, equity certifications and experience building equity into programming and facilitation.
• Exceptional time management skills and the ability to be adaptive.
• Strategic planning and workshop, conference planning experience, including the venue coordination, agenda development, outreach, sponsorship, and registration management and general “run-of-show" management.
• Ability to manage teams and collaborate with venue staff, booking talent, vendors and event participants.
• Ability to work with individuals and groups across professional backgrounds and communities, with varying needs.
• Exceptional communication skills and comfort working across communication platforms and creating surveys, document proceedings, newsletters, blog posts.
• Must be detail oriented, highly self-organized, and meet deadlines consistently.
• Excellent, professional, oral, & written communication skills.
• Must be a team player and excel within a fast-paced, dynamic, creative environment.
• Good listener, able to take and follow directions, as well as coordinate identified subtasks to others.
• Candidate must be able to travel for short and extended periods throughout California.
• Must be a self-starter and work independently with overlapping deadlines.
• Some general knowledge and/or certification of water conservation, greywater, rainwater, watershed hydrology, stormwater systems and agricultural BMPs.
Any of these additional skills and experience are a plus:
• Advanced Excel and project budget experience and skills.
• Five or more years of experience with workshop and event strategic planning.
• Five or more years of experience of local water related approaches.
• Facilitation experience for goal setting teams.
• Thorough knowledge and practical experience with practices and trends in water supply; facility and financial planning; and development and management of water in California.
• Strong understanding of regulatory framework for water, wastewater, groundwater, storm water, agricultural water, or recycled water issues.
• Experience with installing and/or designing greywater, rainwater, stormwater agricultural systems.
• Applied watershed-based modeling experience.
• Strong understanding of state and federal legislative processes.
The Workshop Events Coordinator will report to the Executive Director and work closely with other multidisciplinary staff including the Outreach and Engagement Team, Creative Development and Communications Manager; and will be expected to coordinate team members on project-based tasks.

• LEAD collaborative approaches to coordinating workshops, events, and leadership retreats.
• COORDINATE and potentially FACILITATE community engagement and support a growing community of individuals and groups focused on creating climate resilience throughout California, and help direct the vision of future workshops and events.
• LEARN about Watershed Progressive’s unique approach using multiple benefit tools.
• IMPROVE your understanding of watershed-based local approaches and the impact of individual actions on watershed resilience.
ONBOARDING:
Within 1 month in this role, you will:
• Begin attending and coordinating Steering Committee and LCW Advisory meetings.
• Become familiar with LCW vision, mission, past conference materials and events archive materials.
• Begin understanding other workshop and training needs in the WP ecosystem.
• Begin coordinating events and regional workshops alongside a dynamic team.
• Be comfortable working across multiple platforms to communicate with team members and external partners, complete and delegate project tasks, find relevant project background information and document project steps.
Within 3 months in this role, you will:
• Be coordinating and leading event coordination planning meetings, including but not limited to LCW Steering Committee, Regional LCW Workshops, LCW Workgroups, other WP Workshops Series identified.
• Understand our network of project partners, collaborators, funders and stakeholders and their roles in our projects, programs and workshops.
• Understand the potential impact you can have on creating healthy watershed communities through design, outreach and engagement.
• Work on a strategic team to identify workshop and event needs for WP team and partners.
• Be working actively to coordinate ongoing regional events and workshops, maintaining project tracking and documentation.
• Support with fundraising efforts and budget management.
Within 6 months in this role, you will:
• Understand the impact of our work through interconnected scales, from small sites to large watersheds, and be able to communicate that impact creatively through workshop coordination, agenda development and facilitation.
• Be involved in shaping the ongoing vision of LCW and WP related workshops and events and helping direct ongoing regional outreach to build partner networks.
