Headwaters Initiative Program

It all starts here, with you.

You are at a crossroads, and you know you can make a difference.

It all starts here, with you.

Just as a river's journey begins with a source, a headwater, so too does our own. Where that journey leads depends on an interwoven connectedness of a healthy natural system. The Headwaters Initiative is committed to exploring and aiding those connections for a healthy and resilient future for all.

The Headwaters InitiativePartnership (HIP) is a unique program for young adults interested in hands-on experience and training in watershed resiliency work and who seek a deeper understanding of themselves and their connection to the natural world.

What is hip?

The Headwaters Initiative Program is a unique experience offered by Watershed Progressive for individuals wanting hands-on experience and training focused on appropriate and responsible water management practices through regenerative, whole system, community-minded approaches. Through the integration of relationship making, experiential education, mentorship and hard work, the Headwaters Initiative provides meaningful opportunities for vocational and personal direction and development. HIP supports and creates relationships for a healthy and resilient future for our watersheds and communities.

How does it work?

  • Performs education and outreach activities for clients, public and peer groups at various scheduled events such as Localizing California Waters Conference (LCW), community school functions, local youth corps and volunteer events.

  • Participates in team building and communication development.
