Outreach + Education

We create design guides, toolkits, and graphics for projects, organizations, and communities that make the technical work accessible, and provide the information and resources for communities to build climate resilience on their own terms. Our team works with students, educators, communications organizations, and translators.

outreach

We strive to meet people where they are. We work with individuals and communities to develop public participation plans through community needs assessments and workshops to facilitate community input and civic participation. We partner with various stakeholders to foster collaboration and promote efforts for diversity, equity and inclusion. Our outreach materials include:

  • Design Templates + Toolkits

  • Visuals + Graphics

  • Videos + Podcast

  • Translation of Materials for Bilingual Communities

  • Community Workshops, Design Charrettes

  • Public Participation Plans

  • Community Needs Assessments

policy + consulting

Building climate resilient communities requires efforts at all levels, and can’t happen without changes to policy that prioritize the planning and implementation of sustainable practices for land and water management, and put frontline, disadvantaged communities first for receiving financial support. We collaborate with individuals and organizations working in public policy to inform and guide decision-making through data and information networking.

  • Our annual Localizing California Waters conference connects state policy makers with NGOs and on-the-ground installers to catalyze collaborative action.

  • As part of the California Onsite Water Association (COWA) we help streamline and modernize regulatory standards for onsite water technologies, and support legislation that embraces localized water as part of a statewide comprehensive sustainable management plan.

education

We work with schools, student groups and other institutions to provide workshops and training that range from ecological landscape design to hands-on implementation of water reuse systems, like greywater systems installation. We also create video trainings and workshops to support other organizations and facilitators working in climate resilience. Our design team creates visuals and graphics to relay information in an accessible way to groups of all ages, and our Design Templates and Toolkits are available for free to the public interested in learning more or do-it-yourself projects. Our educational efforts include:

  • Ecological Design Programs

  • Interpretive learning landscapes

  • Graphic signage

  • Curated Curriculums

  • Design Templates + Toolkits

  • Training Workplans + Videos

  • Community Workshops
