community stormwater enhancement project + discovery lab
Watershed Progressive developed hands-on educational exhibits demonstrating the natural processes involved in the management of stormwater and benefits of the Twain Harte Meadows project. The Twaine Harte Meadows Park is a project at the heart of Twain Harte Communty. This multiple benefit-based technical stormwater project addresses critical stormwater concerns through the demonstration of Low Impact Design tools, as well as certified workforce development and youth engagement.
Watershed Progressive performed all administration and coordination efforts to move from design, permitting, and engineering to construction administration and construction of the meadows. Site design includes rainwater collection tanks to capture runoff from rooftops for irrigation of project bioswales, bioretention basins, landscaping and trees; permeable paving; and landscaping with native vegetation.
For ongoing outreach and education of the Twain Harte Community Stormwater Enhancement Project Watershed Progressive is developing a Stormwater Training Curriculum and providing community workshops and trainings in partnership with California Onsite Water Association (COWA) and developing an online Stormwater Educational Dashboard for the community to continue learning about the multiple benefits of Low Impact Design projects.
The hands-on educational Learning Labs include:
Rainwater Harvesting Discovery Lab
Stormwater Discovery Lab
Water Play Bioretention Discovery Lab
Soils Discovery Lab
Magic of Plants/Pollinators Discovery Lab
Me-Wuk Tribal Stormwater Garden Discovery Lab
Living Bioswale Food Fence Discovery Lab
